Facebook has some awesome videos that show how life can be made easier with simple tools. Who knew that binder clips could be used for something more than clipping paper or binders? The internet is full of ideas to spruce up your living room, build something out of wood pallets, or fix your car. But when it comes to living life, the internet does not give us much to lean on. We bumble our way through relationships jumping from one disastrous attempt to another until we decide that this relationship is manageable. We settle. This person does not always put me down. This person will not be so bad. We settle. And somehow, we convince ourselves that this is how life is supposed to go. We are meant to be in situations of anguish, difficulty, and despair. Of course every moment is not like this, but they happen more often than not.
High school students walk the hallways dealing with anxiety because they are becoming the parents much sooner than once thought. Each morning they rise with burdens not designed for them to carry. How to pay bills? Who will carry Mom, Dad, or Grandma to the hospital? Many of them miss school because of the weekend’s adventure into crazy town that resulted in one or more relative in jail. Some have to ask schools for extra food on Friday because they will not get another meal until they arrive at school on Monday. The internet does not have a quick answer for these kinds of problems. The internet does not provide a solution to the teen-pregnancy rate, or the child-homeless rate. But with God a solution exists! You and me. Matthew West’s song Do Something details the purpose of believers worldwide to wake up and do something. We are called above all else to be the hands and feet of Christ to the unbelieving world and the believing world. We are destined to impact someone’s life in a way that can’t be foreseen. Teachers across the country are touching lives that will impact the decisions students make for the rest of their lives. Youth ministers are reaching students with the message of Christ. Parents are guiding students through the tumultuous days of adolescences and pre-adulthood. Life can be hacked….Life can be made easier….when we decide to impact others with the message and love of Christ! God can change a life, be the one who shares the Good News with others. You, whether you are directly connected with students or not, can impact a student with the message of Christ! He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all – how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Romans 8:32 NIV God Loves You! First and foremost realize that God loves you. Unconditionally, wholeheartedly God loves you. God did not keep Jesus to Himself, rather Him gave Him to us because He loves us! God desires to have a relationship with you. When life has gotten you down and you feel you are alone, you are not, Christ loves you! Despite your actions Christ loves you! You cannot run away from the arms of Christ! He will chase you! Understanding and knowing the love of Christ is the best #lifehack. Second, be prepared to share! When our heart is warmed, when our excitement builds to the boiling point, it is difficult to hold in our message. We want to talk to others about what has just happened. However, when the dust settles and we are back on planet earth, we forget about it. We move on with the rest our life. Believers, we can’t let this happen! The fire cannot be put out. Share your story. Speak to others about Christ. If you continue to put Christ on your tongue, in every conversation, then you will see that He quickly becomes an important figure in your life. Be prepared to share by diving into the word, listening to others share the gospel (by whatever device), and meet with others to share your stories (Bible studies, life groups, small groups, etc). Finally, live an adventure! Be courageous and live out loud. God did not give us a spirit of timidity. We are supposed to be adventurous and daring creatures that boldly go into the unknown. God is beside us all the way (Mark 4:35). Christ does not call us to risk our necks alone; He will go with us. He told the disciples to move away from the crowd, to forget about the fame and glory, and to risk it all on the murky, windy waters. And Christ would go with them. Don’t be ashamed nor afraid! God can use the #nerd, #jock, #bluecollar, or #whitecollar person to impact others. Be the person that Christ desires all of us to be, people that show love to others. Help others to live life better - #lifehack – through Jesus Christ. |
